Dress for Success
The senior year is without a doubt a monumental time. This is the final year before you head off to college or begin your journey as an adult. We believe your senior portrait experience should be memorable, fun, a little outrageous at times, and relaxed.

Choosing what to wear for your photo session should also be enjoyable. Wear something classy or casual. When selecting your clothing you can be creative and express your unique sense of style. Your senior pictures are the best and most important photos you will have up to this point in your life. Take some time to plan out your shoot. Check out my top tips list to help you:

BE YOU
Your senior pictures are supposed to reflect who you are at this time in your life. Do you have a special scarf or a piece of jewelry which you really like? Wear it. Are you on a sports team? Bring your uniform. Do you like to wear bright patterns and colors? Do it! Don’t be afraid to show off your unique personality. You don’t need to buy a new outfit. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. The more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will turn out. Also, consider your session style when deciding what to wear. If you are going to have your pictures taken in downtown Cleveland you may want to wear clothing with a more urban or classy feel. Jeans always work well for photo shoots. They can be easily combined with a favorite shirt, or even a sports coat and tie. They work best when they fit well. Avoid baggy jeans and watch the sag. Girls………… don’t be afraid to bring a dress!
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
Bring a variety of clothing with you for your photo shoot. Be sure to bring some solid colors and clothes with a variety of patterns, styles, and designs. Solid colors are good because they put the focus on you. Solids also can work good outside because there can be a lot of distracting and competing details in the scenery. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize. Do you receive a lot of compliments when you wear certain colors? Those are the colors that you should probably choose. PROPS & ACCESSORIES
Whether you’re a musician, an athlete or you collect shoes, bring your stuff with you. Bring a friend, a fishing rod, or a bicycle. Ride an ATV? Bring it! Own a sports car? Drive it here (and then let me take it for a spin). Or pull up in your neighbor’s rusty old truck. We will find a way to use your props and tell your story. It is a great idea to include accessories, such as jewelry. Don’t go over the top, but a couple of items can work well. Girls love shoes and for good reason. For this reason, you should bring a variety of flats, heels, and boots to compliment casual and classy outfits. Heels can really make you stand out and look glamorous. (For comfort, also bring a pair of flip-flops or flats for walking between sets.)
DRESS TO FLATTER YOUR BODY
Long and 3/4 sleeves work best for everyone. Short sleeves and sleeveless shirts work well with toned arms. A wide-open neckline can thicken the neck. A neckline that comes to the base of your neck, such as a collared shirt or one with a v-neck, will slim your neck and can frame your face nicely. Choose clothes that fit your body and are not too loose or baggy. Excessively baggy and very tight clothes tend to make you look larger. If your hips are wider a boot cut or flared jean is a good choice.
The Little Things Matter
Be sure to pay attention to the details. Spots and wrinkled clothing do not reflect well on you. Bring your clothes in pressed and on hangers, not in your backpack. The more together you look, the better your finished product. Make sure that the colors of your undergarments coordinate well with what you are wearing. If you need a strapless bra, please bring one to your session. Tucking or moving straps doesn’t usually work well. Check ahead of time to be sure that your undergarments do not leave unattractive lines under your clothing. Take the time to look over your selections before your shoot to make sure they are camera ready. Don’t forget about your nails! You want them trimmed, clean, and possibly polished. Lotions or foundations with glitter look beautiful in person, but often times do not photograph well. Don’t be sunburned or too tan. Wear makeup as you normally would.
